The Villain Visitations continue here on my blog! Today Bud Anderson, the villain of D.A. Lampi’s novel, Shadow Play, is my guest.

So, tell us Mr. Anderson, what is your ultimate goal?

My ultimate goal is to have Grace know how much I care. No, that's not true. My ultimate goal is to have Grace love me as much as I love her. She's a classy girl - the best thing that's happened to me since I got home from the service and my no-good wife left me. I'll do anything for Grace even if she is involved with someone else. One day she'll see how much I love her.

If you could choose anyone from the literary world as your partner in crime, who would you choose and why?

My ideal partner in solving crime wold be Lisbeth Salander from The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. She's no lady like Grace but she's smart and she's tough and I'd be able to count on her. She'd have my back. She brought down Martin Vanger, didn't she?

Describe yourself in three words or less.

The three words I'd use to describe myself are tough, observant, and tenacious.

Tenacious or obsessed? We‘ll let the readers decide! Here‘s more about D.A. Lampi’s mystery novel, Shadow Play:

Sometimes life seems like a madhouse. And sometimes it’s worse…

After her husband’s untimely death. psychiatrist Grace Rendeau forges a new life for herself and her two young children by moving to rural Minnesota. A prestigious position at the Rochester Forensic Center for the Criminally Insane offers her a new beginning while allowing her to spend more time with her children.

At the Center, Grace is immersed in a maelstrom of lives in disarray. She experiences the anguish and struggles of inmates who hope to regain a footing in sanity and face the devastating consequences of their criminal actions. In striving to heal her patients, Grace herself finds healing, a new strength, and a renew sense of hope for the future.

Among the possibilities is a budding romance with Alex Sawyer, a divorced doctor engaged in humanitarian work. Romance blossoms into love and Grace accompanies Alex on a medical mission to Indonesia. They return committed to a new life together.

But their joy is short lived. Grace returns home to an empty house—and a chilling kidnapper’s note. It asks for no ransom, makes no demands and holds out no hope for the return of her children. It is clearly an act of pure vengeance.

Suspects include a disgruntled security guard at the Center with a grudge against Grace; Alex’s bitter ex-wife; a recently escaped insane inmate. Enemies known and unknown haunt Grace’s every waking hour. Where are her children? What has happened to them? Who is attempting to destroy her? Will she find the answers in time to save her children, and retain her own last connection to sanity?

Grace’s riveting story illuminates the hopes and fears of every wife or husband, mother or father, woman or man, caught in life’s turmoil and striving to overcome it.
