Tell us, Watcher, how did you come by such an unusual name?
I spend most of my time in the trees. My gift allows me to meld with them and watch the world from their heights. I used to watch the village from my trees so much that Goran took to calling me Watcher. His is not the gift of creativity.
Why just watch? Why not live in the village?
Trees do not judge, or argue, or harm. They offer shelter, fruit, and air - without expectation. People are fickle and complicated, where trees are simple and pure. I’d rather live in the trees.
Tell us about your pet bear.
Kitty is not a pet. He is a friend. An orphan, like me. Goran complains about Kitty a lot, because he’s gotten into the food stores from time to time. He can’t help it – there’s a lot of him to feed. Which also explains the broken furniture. Anyway, the holy man would never admit it, but Goran is glad for my furry companion when he leaves on his prophecy quests. Poor Goran, always chasing his tail, trying to save the world.
Is it worth saving, you think?
If Goran thinks it is, then I suppose it is. I give him a hard time, but I feel sure he is the wisest man in the five kingdoms. Don’t tell him I said so though. He’d be intolerable.
Watcher is available in paperback and as an ebook at Amazon, iTunes, Barnes & Noble.com and other retailers.
