Today, the Holy Man Goran is joining us…
Tell me, Goran, what is your calling?
For years I thought my calling was to teach the young, in my own land of Cascadan. I was more than adequate at it, in fact. I inherited a bit of telepathy from my Alderin grandfather, which came in quite handy when dealing with adolescents, as you can imagine. Unfortunately, God had a different calling in mind for me. He cursed me with the gift of prophecy, fairly late in life, and I found myself wandering the five kingdoms, searching for a King’s Flower and a Chosen Son. I wouldn’t have minded so much, this new calling, if he’d have been a bit more specific. Thought to teach me a lesson in patience and endurance, I suppose.
Did you run into any difficulties along the way?
Oh, plenty. The most vexing of which I have named Watcher. She is unruly, stubborn, and the source for my greying hair. She melds with the trees and keeps a bear for a pet. Even if she were willing to stop hiding in the forest and live with her own people in the village, I’m not sure who would take her. I can barely get her to wear clothes. And yet, she is a clever little thing. Keeps me from madness as much as she drives me to it, I dare say. As much as she has distracted me from my prophetic wandering, I wonder if she has not been put in my path for a reason.
What has been your greatest achievement?
I found the Chosen Son. As obscure a clue as it was, I still managed to find him. He’s a sullen boy, able to read minds with a ferocity exceeding the most talented of Alderins. I imagine he’ll use this gift somehow, to defeat the evil of which the prophecy speaks. But finding him fulfilled only half the prophecy. I imagine that’s about as useful as half a wheel. It’s not going to take you anywhere.
Well, good luck with your quest, holy man. As for our audience, stay tuned next week for an interview with the Chosen Son himself, Benaiah, Son of Ephram.
